Job Description

Our Offshore Projects & Operations (OPO) division are currently inviting applications from students who are seeking a summer placement, starting from June 2013.  Our summer placement is designed to provide highly motivated individuals with the opportunity to develop both academically and professionally, whilst establishing relationships within Petrofac.

This opportunity for a summer placement within Metering & Allocation is aimed towards students who are currently studying an appropriate engineering degree course, preferably a MEng in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

The Metering & Allocation department provide specialist support in the operation and maintenance of Oil and Gas measurement systems. Metering is a key component in the oil and gas industry and can often be described as measurement or fluid flow measurement. We ensure our clients know not only the quantity but also the quality of the oil and gas they produce. We use various types of meters and technology to measure the quantity and determine the quality of a product in a single phase. The successful individual will gain an understanding of Metering Engineering through exposure to a variety of aspects.

Applications are welcomed from students who are in 2nd to 4th year at University and who have a strong commitment to self development within industry.  Successful completion of the summer placement may lead to sponsorship opportunities if you are in the early stages of your academic studies.

Summer placements are typically for a minimum of eight weeks, exam preparations permitting. During the placement a competitive hourly rate of pay will also be offered to successful candidates. On return to University, students selected for summer placements at the company are expected to act as ambassadors by promoting opportunities at Petrofac to other relevant undergraduates.
